Hello! I'm going to try to get back into the blogging thing. I used to do quite a lot of blogging, but due to work commitments I'm finding it more difficult to find time. So, after playing around with my blog layout for hours, I've decided on something that I actually like the look of and I'm ready to blog once more!
Anyway, I'll be starting off my new blogging kick with a little talk about the Disturbia Venus Boots!
As soon as I clapped eyes on these bad boys I instantly fell in love. I've wanted a pair of chunky goth style trainers/boots for ages now and these ticked all the boxes.
They look dark and dangerous with their black colour and spike detail. I especially love the chain at the front of the boot, as it jingles when you walk. People don't already notice you coming? They will now!
Want to know something else I love? The fact that they have a bit of a platform! Being a short-arse, I'll take any extra height whenever I can get it! The platform is around 1.5 inches so it makes you feel a little taller without you feeling like you're wearing a pair of stilettos. The sole is wide and provides a great base so you will never feel unsteady despite the platform.
These beautifully casual, gothy kicks fit true to size so you don't need to worry about sizing issues. I bought my normal size and they fit perfectly, with enough room to wear some fuzzy socks with them in the winter.
Added extra? They are so lightweight. When you first look at them, you kind of expect them to weigh similar to the chunky New Rocks, but oh no! These weigh a fraction of that so you will be able to wear them for long periods of time without having to worry about your poor, poor legs and feet hurting after prolonged wear.
Now to a slight downside... They're not that cheap at £82, but if you fell in love with them like I did, then I believe you won't be disappointed. They're a great all round shoe that's comfortable, stylish and lowkey look like they could hurt someone.
It's been an awful long time since I've even typed a word on this blog. Like, a LONG time. Then I noticed that my payment had been taken to renew the domain name so I thought perhaps I should look into it again. I'll be honest, I haven't even looked at my blog in a year or so. Reviewing beauty products isn't exactly my thing anymore. I used to live for cosmetics, but now? I can take it or leave it. I don't need to have the latest 'in' thing or but items from every single damn MAC collection that comes out every month. I see now that I don't need those things and I believe I've found my daily 'face routine' that works for me. I like the products and don't really feel the need to search for the holy grail anymore. My life is much more centred around ice hockey now. I am so thankful that I found the sport. I have met so many wonderful people through it and am thankful for all of them. I suffer from anxiety and struggle to make friends because of it. Ice hockey makes things easier. You're all there for the same reason, to support your team. You have an instant start point to break the ice. I'm still pretty sure that to some I come off as 'snobby' because I don't speak first or whatever, but in reality it's my anxiety stopping me every single time. Even if I want to talk to someone, I will never start a conversation because of a fear they won't want to talk back. Silly I know, but it's how my head works. I've also discovered tattoos since I posted here last. Sounds like a silly thing to say, but I got my first tattoo this year and I think I've got the bug. My first tattoo was hockey related - a Washington Capitals logo on my wrist area. I got it midway through the run the Caps had on their way to the Stanley Cup. I held off getting a tattoo for so long. I had it in my head that if I got one I'd hate in when I got older, but that feeling never went away. Fifteen years later and I still had the urge to get a tattoo so I just thought 'fuck it' and went for it. The pain wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, in fact I actually like it. It wasn't long before I got my second, a chibi version of Connor from the game Detroit: Become Human, a game that even though it only came out this year has really moved me. It takes an awfully good game for me to complete it and this game is the best I have ever played. I have seen people slagging it off online, but at the end of the day, I don't give a fuck. It's my body and it's so beautifully done that I know I will always adore it. Then I got the Pokemon Sylveon and Glaceon on my outer forearm and oh my word, I love them. They are super cute and the colours are so vibrant. It took 7 hours in one sitting but so worth it. My Connor and my Pokemon pieces were done by Hannah Eaton from Tenacious Tattoo in Sheffield btw. Then I got a lil tiny CM Punk logo inbetween them. I wanted to honour a man who kept my interest in wrestling alive. A man who brought a tiny bit of the Attitude era back into the PG era. When he left the industry, so did my love of wrestling. No, Punk, I will not keep buying the collector cups that your face is not on. My love of wrestling left with you. This piece was by Steph at Holy Ghost Collective in Rotherham. I'm planning another couple of pieces in the upcoming months. More Eeveelutions and perhaps something else to fill the gap between my pieces by Hannah. I'm popping in next Wednesday for her to take a look to see what she could do. So what does that mean for this blog? Well, it'll probably have different content on it if I decide to continue it. Prepare for nerdy things and lots of them. Prepare for ice hockey and lots of it. Prepare for something that's more 'me'.
Today I ventured out on a shopping spree. Once my wages hit my bank account, I do enjoy splashing out a little bit. So what better place to splash out than TK Maxx? Here are some of the goodies that I picked up -
Michael Kors coat. I absolutely LOVE this. I've been looking for something like this for ages and when I saw it I knew I had to have it in my life!
This is from Asda, not TK Maxx, but I thought I'd include it anyway. I've wanted a shirt like this for a while and this was perfect. Only £14 too!
KATE SPADE!!! Yes. I was excited about this to say the least! This was reduced from £59.99 to £29!
Tarina Tarantino cheek palette? YES PLEASE! I spotted this for a steal at £7.99. The colours are so pigmented and I cannot wait to play around with it!
Hey everyone! I got this bad boy from VeryExclusive.co.uk. It was listed as £80, but thanks to a discount code I bagged it for £64. And on three easy payments, it makes it a lot easier on the wallet! I'm absolutely in love with it. The fact you can use it on the pink side or the grey side is a plus as it gives you two different looks. I also rather like the packaging the scarf arrived in. Lovely, eh?
A few weeks ago I saw an article that said Debenhams would be stocking Kat Von D cosmetics soon. Surely not? I thought, but I was wrong. Kat Von D is heading to Debenhams soon. So, if you're like me and a fan of her beauty products, you won't have to send away to the United States or stock up when you head over the pond. You will be able to get your most beloved product delivered to your door from within the UK. YES! I'm so happy.
There was a competition on the Debenhams website at the time giving entrants a chance to receive and review one of the products in the line. There was an option of an eyeliner or one of 2 lipsticks (I believe). I was lucky enough to be chosen to try out one of the products... can you guess which I picked?
I picked the Tattoo Liner in 'Trooper' a beautiful bold black colour. The packaging was beautiful, and not just on the eyeliner, but the tissue paper was adorned in Kat's logo too. Beautiful, eh?
I haven't tried out this item on my eyes yet, but I'm going to give it a go tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates!
